Automatically pass the transaction fee/s directly to your customer so you get 100% of what you charge.
What is Fee Pass-On?
When receiving payments from customers through NextPay, transaction fees are usually applied and deducted from your proceeds upon payout. The Fee Pass-On feature allows you to automatically pass the transaction fee/s directly to your customer so you get 100% of what you charge.
How do I use Fee Pass-On?
Currently, you can use it with NextPay payment links. When creating a payment link, a toggle will be available for you to turn on the feature for that link.
Creating a Fee Pass-On payment link
When creating a payment link, just toggle on the Charge transaction fee option. That's it! Upon payout of the proceeds, you'll get the original amount that you billed your client in full.
Viewing a Fee Pass-On payment
After your customer has completed their payment, you can check the breakdown showing the base amount, transaction fee, total amount paid by your customer, and net payout amount in:
- the automated email notification you receive after every successful customer payment
- the payments table when viewing a specific payment link under the Payment Links & QR section in your NextPay dashboard
- the "Export payments" .csv report (when viewing a specific payment link)
Will the Fee Pass-On option become available for NextPay invoices?
Yes, we intend to roll out this feature to invoices in the near future. If you’d like to sign up for this feature, please reach out to our Customer Support via the chat widget (or if you are logged into your NextPay account, via the Help widget > Message customer support).
Can I toggle on and off Fee Pass-On on my existing payment links?
No, you cannot toggle on and off the Fee Pass-On setting for a payment link once it has been created.
You can disable the payment link to prevent further payments from being made, and create and share a new payment link with your customers if you want.
How would my customers pay for the fees?
When your customer accesses your payment link, they will be shown the corresponding transaction fee per payment method. After selecting a payment method, they will be able to review the updated total amount to be paid.
How does NextPay compute the add-on amount to be charged to my customer?
The additional amount charged to your customer is computed in such a way that once NextPay’s fee is applied to the new total amount (original billed amount + additional amount), the net proceeds you receive are equivalent to the original amount that you intended to bill your customer. To see this in action, try out our sample pricing calculator with the Charge fees to customer option toggled on.
For Fee Pass-On Card payments, the rate used is 4.2% + PHP 5, regardless of whether the card was issued within or outside of the Philippines. Upon payout, the net proceeds you receive will remain equivalent to the original amount you billed the client.
Why isn’t a particular payment method available to my customer?
Each payment method has a designated maximum amount limit set by our partners. In order to prevent failed payments due to these limits being breached, we display only the payment methods that can accommodate the total amount your customer needs to pay (the original amount you billed them + the transaction fee). You may refer to the below summary:
